A comparative analysis of humanistic ideal of Xianzu Tang and William Shakespeare from the perspectives of feminist literary criticism and gender poetics
Nanhu University, China

The analytical method of modern feminist literary criticism and gender poetics reveal the significance of Xianzu Tang and William Shakespeare’s thought on human liberation. The comparative analysis between Tang and Shakespeare’s plays on feminist literary criticism and gender poetics theoretical basis is necessary and practicable. Their concern about women’s fate and gender relations is an important perspective of expression of humanistic ideals. They probe into women’s life and spiritual emancipation for the realization of human nature and value, and call for the emancipation of human nature from the stance of women. They break with the traditional stereotype of female and male images and focus on themes like women’s fate and gender relations with great enthusiasm. Their plays deal with women’s and gender issues on the basis of humanity. This is valuable for analyzing gender oppression and constructing new gender culture for human emancipation. Feminist literary criticism employs a deconstructive approach, which reveals playwrights’ renunciations of stereotyped gender roles assigned by patriarchal traditions. Gender poetics reveals playwrights’ pursuit of ideal androgynous human nature and equal gender relations. In this sense, their plays are the best literary text for feminist literary criticism and gender poetics, whereas feminist literary criticism and gender poetics provide a new perspective and effective way for analysis and comparison of their plays.

However, while this model solves the previous problems, there also exist new problems. Therefore, this article will analyze these issues and take the learning organization theory as an example to explore its application in this model.
